“Unlocking disciplines” is at the heart of Legendary Stakes. When you enroll your sire, you have the option to unlock specific disciplines for your sire’s offspring. Unlocking a discipline means that any offspring of your sire is then eligible to compete in Legendary Stakes events for that particular discipline. For example, if you unlock barrel racing, any horse sired by your sire can be entered in Legendary Stakes side pots at barrel racing events. The current cost to unlock a discipline is $10,000. However, as a bonus, when you unlock your first discipline, you get a second discipline unlocked for free. Financing for unlocking disciplines is also available with a $5,000 down payment, and the remaining $5,000 is paid through royalties from your offspring’s earnings.
