From October 18-26, 2024, Ardmore, Oklahoma, will host the prestigious Southwest Reining Horse Association (RHA) Futurity, a premier event in the world of reining. Bringing together top riders and some of the most promising young horses in the sport, this week-long competition will showcase the best of reining talent in a test of precision, athleticism, and horsemanship.
The Art of Reining
Reining is often described as Western dressage, with riders guiding their horses through a pattern of spins, stops, circles, and rollbacks, all at high speed. The Southwest RHA Futurity focuses on young horses, typically three-year-olds, as they demonstrate their training and ability to execute these maneuvers with finesse and fluidity. The event serves as a proving ground for the future stars of the reining world.
