Held in McCook, NE, this year’s Drought Buster event spanned May 16-19, 2024.
Organized by the Colorado Reined Cowhorse Association (CRCA), this event aimed to build relationships and connections by showcasing the supreme working equine athlete while preserving the culture and history of the sport. Founded on May 30, 1996, the CRCA has paved the way for horsemen to display the talent and diversity of the working cow horse discipline.
The CRCA offers a variety of competitions, including futurities, derbies, horse show classes, and spectaculars through open, non-pro, and youth classes. The association prides itself on camaraderie, leadership, and friendships at its events. The Drought Buster event was no exception, providing a competitive, fun, and rewarding experience for participants.
